December Song (I Dreamed of Christmas) was a popular hit single that was released on the 14th December 2009 by George Michael. It was written collaboratively by George Michael and David Austin. Originally written for the Spice Girls, after certain deadlines passed, it was then going to be given to performer Michael Bublé , but Michael decided to release it himself. A sample from Sinatra's The Christmas Waltz features in the song.
After Michael performed the song on The X Factor the day before its release, copies sold out within the day and his record company had to quickly print new copies. This was said to be responsible for the relatively low showing on the singles chart, debuting at number 14. It was re-released in time for Christmas the following year and again in 2011.
